Greg's Gig-gles
Here it is... my guide to the best comedy gigs in London this month. It's simple, it's clear, it's genius (okay that may be an exaggeration but it is pretty damn good).
Tim Minchin will be at the Bloomsbury Theatre 5th and 6th September. It's dark and entertaining comedy that will leave you with deeper crow’s feet than when you walked into the gig. The Aussie has a knack of musical comedy and should have you singing along in no time. If you do miss him, never fear as he'll be back in London on 30th October.
Another guy who walks on the funny side of life is Lee Hume, who is playing Monkey Funk on 9th September at The Bedford in Balham and 2nd October at The Oxford in Kentish Town. The man likes to drink and entertain; indeed he does entertain well even if he can’t handle his drink. This is definitely worth a pop down the pub and you shouldn't miss it if you are a proper comedy hack.
But these are both familiar faces on the comedy circuit and if you fancy something fresh and breezy but don't want to trek all the way to Edinburgh Fringe Festival then Comedy Cabaret, downstairs at The Kings Head in Crouch End is a great place to start. For under a tenner (well £9) you can be vibrating on your bar stool with glee all evening. It’s on most Saturday nights but I would check with the venue before you turn up to see what’s happening that night.
That's it for this month; I'll have even more for October. Don't forget to check out the top comedy venues in London when you get the chance.
If you think you can do better than me and find some great comedy places in London, write about them here and you never know, I might think you're special enough to publish online.
